Math Tutoring Vancouver Washington

The Vancouver Math tutoring program offered at the Learning Academy provides proven tutoring programs in math, ranging from basic math help to pre-algebra and algebra assistance. Our math tutor will conduct the tutoring using a variety of proven teaching methods.  The activities include the use of pencil and paper in addition to the incorporation of manipulatives to provide a hands on method to help in learning abstract concepts.  Our math tutoring programs are specially designed to meet your child's needs in order to yield success.

Basic Math Tutoring Program

The Basic Math Tutoring Program provides activities to help students develop basic math skills in three areas:  basic math facts, computation, and concepts and applications.  The Basic Math Tutoring Program motivates students to communicate using mathematical terms in all areas.  The mastery of these skills prepares students for a more advanced level of math class.

Basic Math Facts - Students learn to master basic single digit equations in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  Your child will increase his/her accuracy and speed as a result of progression in the program.  These newly enhanced skills will also dramatically increase accuracy and confidence.  Basic math skills build a strong foundation that will allow the student to advance to more complex math operations.

Computation - Core computation skills are learned in the areas of whole number operations, fractions, decimals, and at some levels, integers, percentages, and pre-algebraic expressions. With these math skills, your child is prepared to advance to the next levels quickly and successfully.

Concepts and Applications - Computation skills are learned in the categories of whole number operations, fractions, decimals, and at some levels, integers, percentages, and pre-algebraic expressions.  Your child is well prepared to advance to the next levels successfully and quickly with these math skills.

Pre Algebra Tutoring Program

As the student gains confidence and masters the math skills of the Basic Math Program, he/she is prepared to face new challenges in our Pre Algebra Tutoring Program.  This program connects basic math to algebra with the aid of algebra-readiness skills.  Students learn how to read, write, and comprehend the mathematics language so they will be prepared for evey kind of problem solving and assessment situations.  The Pre-Algebra Program offers students the opportunity to take time with these important skill areas to allow for future success in the algebra program.

The Pre-Algebra skills taught in this program inlcude: equations, integers, rational numbers, factors and fractions, percent and proportion, ratio, equations and inequalities, funcitons and graphing, two-dimensional figures, right traingles, statistics and probability, three dimensional figures, variables, polynomials and nonlinear functions, and exponents and powers.

Algebra Tutoring Program

The Vancouver Algebra tutoring program provides a detailed Algebra Program that teaches the math concepts and skills that are necessary for students to succeed in high school and beyond.  As soon as students have successfully mastered basic math skills and possess a strong understanding of the concepts in pre-algebra, they are advanced to algebra help.

The students will learn and apply, practice, and master the basic algebra skills that are necessary to successfully apply logical thinking in school related algebra courses.  The strategies and skills taught in the Algebra Program include:  real numbers, linear equations, the language of algebra, linear inequalities, factoring polynomials, exponential functions, quadratic functions, radical expressions, rational equations, probability, and statistics.
